Michael Nichols is a Solo Acoustic Musician in SW Florida with more than twenty years of playing gigs of all kinds. Whether he’s providing background music for a mellow dinner crowd in the restaurant or rocking a little louder in the bar, his blend of genres — Rock, Reggae, Blues, and Country — can satisfy most musical appetites. Michael’s dynamic, full singing voice is balanced by his guitar skills, which he showcases when he creates one of his loops to take a guitar solo, creating musical moods for different events and venues. With an emphasis on beachy music and a laid-back approach, most people would probably apply the “Trop Rock” label to Michael’s diverse musical presentation.
Having more than 700 songs in his repertoire, he can be heard singing many of those favorite popular hit songs people expect, as well as some less played-out songs that might surprise you. In an effort to please the venue’s customers during his shows, Mike likes to engage the audience by telling stories and jokes, and by asking questions that prompt audience members to request songs, bands, and styles of music they prefer. He is always learning new songs, and people enjoy that each show is uniquely tailored to the moment’s vibe

In his youth, growing up by the beach in Maryland, Michael actively sang in both the school and church choir, and began playing instruments like the piano, violin, and saxophone before settling on the guitar at age 12. By the time he was fourteen, he was already gigging every Friday and Saturday night in the local restaurants and bars. He hasn’t stopped playing or looked back since that young age, and being a full-time gigging musician is all he has ever done.
In his travels, Michael has played live shows in more than fifteen states in the USA. While living in Florida for the last 17+ years, he has also flown out to play gigs in Alaska, Connecticut-NYC & Connecticut-Boston, the Bahamas, & St. Thomas, USVI. Over the years, while living in Tampa Bay and SWFL, Michael has also enjoyed traveling in-state to perform his music in other parts of Florida, including Pensacola, Jacksonville Beach & St. Augustine, Orlando, Gainesville, Cocoa Beach, Daytona Beach, Miami, and Key West.
